Evaluation of Gift Requests (Several "no" answers might indicate that a "no" answer from the Board is appropriate.)
  • Does the program, project, or effort clearly relate to a Rotary avenue of service (and can we articulate how)?
    • Club Service - Club Service focuses on strengthening fellowship and ensuring the smooth functioning of Rotary clubs. Learn about effective club service in Membership and Training.
    • Vocational Service - Vocational Service involves club members serving others through their professions and aspiring to high ethical standards. Rotarians, as business leaders, share skills and expertise through their vocations, and they inspire others in the process.
    • Community Service - Community Service is the opportunity Rotary clubs have to implement club projects and activities that improve life in the local community.
    • International Service- International Service encompasses efforts to expand Rotary's humanitarian reach around the world and to promote world understanding and peace. It includes everything from contributing to Polio Plus to helping Rotary Youth Exchange students adjust to their host countries.
  • Is granting the request consistent with the Board's plan for giving for the year?
  • Do we know how the funds will be used?
  • Will our contribution make a noticeable or lasting impact that is recognized by the community or the club?
  • Does it appear that other sources of funds have been explored and exhausted?
  • Does the program, project, or effort have the support of the club membership?
  • Will the gift present new opportunities for the community and/or for the club?
  • Is a gift of money the best or only thing we can do to help this group, effort, or project?
Note: every gift request and grant should pass the 4-way test!
